On April 9, 2026, an online scientific-educational conference titled “Seismology and Earthquake-Resistant Construction” was held by A. Garajayev, a senior teacher of the “Road Construction” department of the Faculty of Road Construction at the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute.
The conference was attended by professors, teachers, and students from the country's leading higher and secondary vocational schools. During the online meeting, representatives from the Institute of Engineering-Technical and Transport Communications of Turkmenistan, International Academy of Horse Breeding named after Aba Annayev, Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A. Niyazov, State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan, Railway Transport Secondary School in Ashgabat and Ashgabat Construction Secondary School of the Ministry of Construction and Architecture shared their mutual experiences.
The presentation provided detailed information on the importance of seismology and earthquake-resistant construction, general data regarding catastrophic earthquakes, seismic risks, and methods for their assessment and mitigation. Additionally, it covered the importance of reinforcing road foundations (soil layers) and the seismic protection of bridges and overpasses.
