On June 5, 2026, Hikmet Mammedov, Member of the National Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Professor Rahiba Aliyeva, Head of Department at the Institute of Architecture and Art of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences; and Associate Professor Aygun Bagirli, PhD in Philological Sciences and Scientific Secretary of the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, delivered a lecture to the students of the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute. The lecture focused on the research, project activities, and experiences of the Institute of Architecture and Art of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, as well as the architectural legacy of the prominent Azerbaijani architect Ajami Nakhchivani. More than 200 students actively participated in this lecture session. As is known, pursuant to the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan, the year 2026 marks the 900th anniversary of the outstanding Azerbaijani architect Ajami Nakhchivani, as well as the 120th anniversary of Samad Vurgun, an eminent figure of 20th-century Azerbaijani literature and the first People's Poet of Azerbaijan.

During the lecture, the Azerbaijani guests provided the students and faculty with comprehensive insights into contemporary architectural solutions, digital innovations, new types of construction materials, and advanced engineering methods utilized in urban planning. In particular, information regarding the implementation of "smart city" technologies and sustainable architecture, which align with the core directions of modern innovative construction and pioneering architectural solutions, aroused great interest among the audience.

During the session, students and the faculty of the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute raised questions of interest, engaging in an insightful questions and answers session with the guests. At the conclusion of the meeting, it was confidently emphasized that the regular organization of such international events and academic mobility programs will significantly contribute to further deepening friendly relations, scientific and educational cooperation, and academic training initiatives between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

To mark the visit of the guests to the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute, an exhibition was organized showcasing the outcomes of the research and design projects conducted by the institute's faculty and students. The guests thoroughly acquainted themselves with the exhibition and the project works of the university's instructors and youth. Among these projects, the final phase of the construction of the new building complex for the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute – the conceptual design of which was developed by the institute’s instructors and proposed for construction in Ashgabat – is currently progressing at a rapid pace.
The institute conducts research and development activities aimed at addressing vital industrial challenges across the country's priority scientific fields, such as ecology and sustainable resource management, green energy, innovative chemical technologies, the production of new competitive composite construction materials and products, innovative construction, modern architecture, cybernetics, and information technologies.
